The first full-length trailer...finally! Looks like a solid, American spirit-filled, bad-ass, historical fiction flick. Very excited for this one!

"Man of Steel"...am I the only one watching the teaser everyday?!

I've always loved Superman...what self-respecting American male doesn't?

I loved Christopher Reeve and Dean Cain (noticed I left someone out...it's not that he was terrible, but just too short-lived). I even loved most of the comics...when Superman wasn't being overly self-righteous. So naturally when it was announced that Zach Snyder was doing this new re-imagining with Henry Cavill I got pretty pumped. And that excitement simmered down (mainly being over-run with TDKR and "The Hobbit" squeeing) only being perked up by one or two screenshots in the last year. However, when I heard Comic-Con was having a "Man of Steel" panel, I started to get a little excited. THEN! When the teaser went online and premiered with TDKR...

I started tearing up!

First off, LOTR soundtrack use...so choice! Bridge of Khazad Dum couldn't be more perfect! Second, Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner voice-overs as the two dad (Jor-El and Jon Kent)...holy shit! Then the footage! So classic. So emotion filled. So American. So...different! And I'm not even talking about the last 5 seconds!

In short, I think it's everything a teaser for one of the greatest and most iconic superheros of all time should be. And because of this, I have easily watched it on iTunes trailers 20 times. Let me clarify that I've watched the Jon Kent version 2 times and the Jor-El version the 20 times:

I have very high hopes for this movie...and I feel everyone else should too!

AMC Theaters has announced today that they will be offering one of their now famous movie marathon events that will feature the COMPLETE Indiana Jones saga on September 15. Yes, for a mere $25 you can see all four Indy movies on the silver screen. Also, attendees will receive a limited edition poster and a lanyard. Plus, AMC Stubs members get $5 AMC Stubs Bucks for the event. Yes this is happening. Yes it's only in select theaters. Okay, so now you have your tickets to the marathon on 9/15? Good. Keep your credit card and Stubs number out because you're going to want to go back to that page and look to the right. Yes! You are reading it correctly. RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK in IMAX for one week only! Breath...breath...I know I about passed out.

Yes, you can see Raiders anytime from September 7-13 in freakin' IMAX res at most AMC and Regal theaters and then catch it again in the full marathon on September 15.

This is all too much for me. So I just bought my tickets, wrote this post, and decided to let the reality settle in over the next few days. I've been dreaming of this very new ever since a somewhat vague and oddly populated poll that AMC Theaters posted on their Facebook a few months ago asking what movie franchises fans would love to see as a marathon event. While Indy was high on the list, the last time I checked it was losing to the Pirates franchise (which I love, but come on...are the two sagas even in the same dimension of awesomeness?...negatory!).

Anyway, when this is all over Dr. Jones won't be gone long. Let me remind you that the complete Indy blu-ray set is being released for the first time September 18. But you already have that pre-ordered, right? Double check here:  Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures [Blu-ray]

So even if we ignore his amazing performance in 2.5 of the greatest movies of all time as Gollum/Smeagol, you have to admit that he deserves something for this...

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D...you'll see it!

So in case you didn't know, you can now pre-order your tickets to see Star Wars Ep I in 3D on February 10. While I don't think it's necessary to pre-order, I think it's necessary to get excited...at least I am. Of course if Star Wars isn't your thing, that's cool. However, for the so-called "fans" you should be excited because the lore is on the big screen in 3D. If you don't think Ep I is the best, you're right...it's certainly sub-par compared to the OT, but it's not bad as a movie and story so stop bandwagoning with the hate.

On that note, I don't understand where all the hate towards the franchise has come from recently. Of wait, that's right...I do. HIPSTERS! So Lucas tinkered with the blu-ray...get over it! The changes weren't excessive and no one is breaking into your house to splice new footage into your VHS collection. No one forced you to buy the re-releases, but you did anyway...just like you will pay to see Ep I in 3D (as you should...it will be great). Somewhere in the middle of all that drama surrounding a few 1080p changes you all started hating on the franchise because I guess it became cool? Star Wars was here before you hipsters started trying to hate on something you've never seen...the OT before it was remastered. I am also too young to have seen the OT in theaters, but I saw it re-released when it was remastered the first time and I'll pay to see it next month and in the coming years when it's updated again...because I'm a fan who loves the universe Lucas created. I can watch any version I would like at any time and look forward to the story being adapted through time.
