Nerd Recap: Star Wars Celebration 2015

I haven't posted in quite awhile as you can tell. That tends to happen with blogs I guess. As I've said before though, I'm going to try and keep things going here. It becomes increasingly difficult I feel in today's Internet to filter through all the crazy news of a million blogs/twitter feeds/news outlets and walk away feeling like you didn't really miss anything from the day. In my eternal attempt to be one of those filters, I give you the first Nerd Recap!

The first update is of course focused on Star Wars Celebration 2015 taking place this weekend in Anaheim, California. If you're human you already know the new teaser for Episode VII was shown and officially released. Unaware of the validity of the statement, there were a couple articles circulating that claimed analysts figured the release of this trailer generated approximately $2 billion in additional brand worth for Disney...I'll agree. Also, according to Kathleen Kennedy the teaser was viewed around 88 million times in its first 24hrs online. I can personally say about 100 of those views came from here.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (teaser #2)

Now by no means was that all the Star Wars news that came out of Star Wars Celebration this weekend. It's actually still going on as we speak I type this. Some of the other big highlights include The Force Awakens panel itself that opened #SWCA. Check out the official highlight reel below.

Also, while I'm slowly inching my way into the animated Star Wars universe myself, the trailer for Season 2 of Rebels was premiered and it looks AMAZING! #AhsokaLives, #DarthVader, #RexLives

Star Wars Rebels Season Two (trailer #1)

Let's now forget about the video game that is going to re-awaken everyone's inner 90's child...Star Wars Battlefront, coming to your next gen console or PC this November.

Star Wars Battlefront Reveal Trailer

The last thing on the Star Wars front (as of the writing of this article) would have to be the reveal of official info on the first standalone film Star Wars: Rogue One which apparently will be focusing on rebel pilots (including the awesome Felicity Jones) stealing the plans for the Death Start between Episodes III and IV, meaning there will be no Jedi in the film...interesting! They apparently debuted some concept art and an official logo (see below courtesy of @bcbishop). Also, twitter is saying a short teaser of sorts was shown, not officially up yet...but keep an eye out!

Star Wars Celebration 2015 is still going strong, so keep it tuned to your favorite blog or starwars.com for the latest as it wraps up.

Back to the Future...of Awesome Blogging

Excuse the corny reference, but I needed one in the title. So this is my attempt to get back with writing and posting on here. As you can tell, from the gap in post dates, I have let med school and life consume me and have neglected my attempts at being a nerdy blogger. So in order to attempt a re-entry into this world (hopefully being as successful as the recent "Curiosity" landing on our 4th rock from the sun).

What's up-and-coming in the world of nerdom:

 1. Star Wars Celebration VI (8/23 - 8/26)

Remote controlled R2-D2 Projector...yes it's real!

I guess this isn't new, but it's the first time I'm seeing it...and yet, I would give up my first-born son for one.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D...you'll see it!

So in case you didn't know, you can now pre-order your tickets to see Star Wars Ep I in 3D on February 10. While I don't think it's necessary to pre-order, I think it's necessary to get excited...at least I am. Of course if Star Wars isn't your thing, that's cool. However, for the so-called "fans" you should be excited because the lore is on the big screen in 3D. If you don't think Ep I is the best, you're right...it's certainly sub-par compared to the OT, but it's not bad as a movie and story so stop bandwagoning with the hate.

On that note, I don't understand where all the hate towards the franchise has come from recently. Of wait, that's right...I do. HIPSTERS! So Lucas tinkered with the blu-ray...get over it! The changes weren't excessive and no one is breaking into your house to splice new footage into your VHS collection. No one forced you to buy the re-releases, but you did anyway...just like you will pay to see Ep I in 3D (as you should...it will be great). Somewhere in the middle of all that drama surrounding a few 1080p changes you all started hating on the franchise because I guess it became cool? Star Wars was here before you hipsters started trying to hate on something you've never seen...the OT before it was remastered. I am also too young to have seen the OT in theaters, but I saw it re-released when it was remastered the first time and I'll pay to see it next month and in the coming years when it's updated again...because I'm a fan who loves the universe Lucas created. I can watch any version I would like at any time and look forward to the story being adapted through time.

May the Force be with you...hipsters!

Star Tours 2...My Forbidden Journey!

So as I attempt to return to the world of blogging, yet again, I have decided to share with you my latest and greatest obsession (que the lights and music):

It is no joke, without sounding overly dramatic, I am about ready to bow before Lord Palpatine himself and commit myself to the Dark Side. Many of my fans will say, "Aaron, aren't you already a Sith?" To them I reply, yes! However, like Vader there has always been some good and therefore conflict inside me. After the events surrounding Star Tours 2, I don't know if I have it in me to keep those midichlorians from sparking up.

In case you have been living under a rock (like in those Geico commercials), you should check out http://www.startours2live.com/ for all there is to know about Star Tours 2. You should also follow Star Tours 2 Live on twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/StarTours2Live

------------------

Now that I am done crying, we have the exciting fact that the ride will more than likely have at least one soft opening before May 20th. The people from Star Tours 2 Live are camping out in front of the ride all day everyday until one of these soft openings occurs. My lovely and amazingly awesome girlfriend and I took a trip out to Disney's Hollywood Studios yesterday and hung out with them for awhile...of course there wasn't a soft opening while we were there because I wouldn't sound like an emo Sith right now if I had actually ridden the ride, would I?! Sorry...sorry...didn't mean to lose it there. I'm calm, I promise. In any case, the ride will be open just in time for the first of Disney's Star Wars Weekends May 20-22. Hope you get a chance to ride it this summer.

May the Force be with you!
